Fiat 500e Refresh – Lower price for greener city drivers

Mirafiori asks, "How much battery do you really need for city driving?"

Fiat has unveiled a refreshed pricing strategy for its 500e model, positioning it as a more accessible electric vehicle option for consumers in the UK. Starting at £21,995, the revised cost includes the Fiat E-Grant of £3,000, introduced to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles. This adjustment coincides with the first anniversary of the Fiat E-Grant (not to be confused with Richard E Grant), underscoring the automaker’s commitment to affordable electric mobility.

The pricing revision is part of Fiat's broader strategy to make electric vehicles more attainable for a wider audience. The Model Year 24 Fiat 500e introduces new aesthetic options with the addition of Acid Green and Celestial Blue to its colour palette. These updates enhance the vehicle's appeal and offer more personalisation choices for buyers. We have to admit a soft spot for the 500e from the first time we tested it. While not perfect, it has undeniable charm. Now this low cost option lines up alongside the beefy Abarth spec and the ‘bigger cousin' 600e.

The Fiat 500e, celebrated for its design and functionality, is now available in two configurations: a hatchback and a convertible. Both models come with two battery options. The entry-level version includes a 24 kWh battery that provides a range of 118 miles, while the higher-specification model features a 42 kWh battery, extending the range to 199 miles. Batteries are most likely to come from the new facility in Mirafiori.

That brings up a key question: How much range does a city driver need?   According to major motoring bodies, the average Brit drives around 20 miles a day. That will go up for rural drivers and down for city-dwellers. On that basis, a range of 118 will only be an issue for those wishing to driver inter-city.

In addition to the pricing updates, Fiat continues to extend its electric vehicle incentive. The Fiat E-Grant not only remains in effect but has also expanded to include the previously mentioned 600e and Abarth 500e models, demonstrating Fiat’s dedication to its electrification pledge.

Damien Dally, Managing Director of Fiat UK, expressed the company's intent to democratise electric vehicle ownership. “At Fiat, we believe in electric for all,” he stated. This belief is embodied in their ongoing initiatives to reduce the financial barriers associated with electric vehicles. Dally emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating that more UK drivers would be able to enjoy the benefits of electric mobility, aligning with the brand's vision of ‘La Dolce Vita.'

Fiat's approach comes at a critical time as the automotive industry shifts towards sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. The 500e model, available in several trims including the 500e (RED), a special version designed in collaboration with (RED), and the 500e La Prima, featuring exclusive options such as 17-inch alloy wheels and advanced driver-assistance technologies, caters to a range of consumer needs from basic to luxury preferences.

As electric vehicles gain traction, initiatives like the Fiat E-Grant and strategic pricing adjustments are vital for encouraging widespread adoption. With these efforts, Fiat aims not only to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles but also to lead the charge in the industry’s transition to sustainable mobility. The detailed specifications and pricing for the Model Year 24 Fiat 500e are available on the Fiat website, offering potential buyers all the necessary information to make informed decisions about their electric vehicle purchase.
